Challenger
Baseball of Omaha

The Mission of Challenger Little League is to provide the opportunity for children from ages 6 to 21
years old with disabilities within the Omaha and surrounding areas to play baseball as a team-player,
create new friendships, gain independence, and improve self-esteem.
Any child, ages 5 through 21, with any developmental and/or physical disability is eligible to play. (A
child must be 6 by July 31, 2012 to play.) All players play every game with a “Buddy” system used to
assist players if needed. We encourage family members to serve as buddies. All players are covered
by Little League accident insurance. Baseball shirts, hats and equipment are provided.
Trophies/awards are presented at the end of the season. Players provide their own glove, long white
baseball pants, and any specialized equipment. Parents can also purchase individual and team
pictures. Picture Day will be June ? (Mark your calendars). No transportation is provided.
The registration fee is $60. Scholarships are available. REGISTRATIONS RECEIVED ON MARCH 1ST
OR AFTER MUST INCLUDE THE FULL $60 FEE..
Registrations must be received by February 28, 2012!! Any registration after this date will only be
placed on a team if there is room, if there are enough coaches.
Once rosters are filled, late registrations and payments will be refunded, returned or shredded.

or download from the website. Coaches will usually contact players after April 15th.
Our season generally runs from early May through the end of June. Most games are played at the
Keystone Littlie League Fields on 120th just North of West Maple Road, but we are increasing the
number of games to be scheduled at the AllPlay fields at the Seymour Smith Park located at 70th and
Drexel, just North of Harrison. All games at Keystone will be on Wednesdays and Sundays, the
games at AllPlay will also be played on Wednesdays and Sundays but also includes Tuesdays or
Thursdays when necessary.
Volunteers are needed to "Buddy" with Challenger players. Buddies must be 10 years of age and can
certainly be adults. Buddies play a key role in Challenger games. They provide encouragement and
help each player safely and actively participate in the games. Buddies can sign up on the normal
registration sheet. Coaches are required to fill out the form for the annual required background check.
Challenger Baseball is a non-profit organization coordinated by an all volunteer board! We need the
help of every family in order to make the 2011 season a success. What can you do? First of all, send in
your registration promptly to be received by February 28tth, so uniforms can be ordered and teams
assigned. Second, pass on the information to someone else. You are our best advertisement. Third,
we need every family to volunteer for at least one area as listed on the registration form. We especially
need volunteers to help with field cleanup after each game.
Challenger Little League in Omaha started in 1990 in Omaha, we will be playing our 22nd year of
baseball in 2011. Challenger in Omaha has received the following awards: GOARC Award (1993) and
the Omaha Sportscaster’s Association SportWard (1994).
Sponsorships by various organizations in our great metro community have allowed us to keep our
membership growing by providing the necessary funds that help us to reach out to more children,
maintain a low-cost option for activity and development, provide quality equipment for all of our
athletes, and to increase the awareness of the individuality of each person. Team sponsorships will
be $400 this year. Challenger Little League is a qualified 501(c)(3) and sponsorships are tax
deductible, as allowed by law. Contact us for further details. All sponsors are recognized on the
jerseys of each player, in our newsletter, at the Opening Day ceremonies, and are listed on this
website as part of our thank you for their efforts and commitment.
